Winged Portraits
My days are spent with birds. Weak and strong, young and very young, injured and recovering, fragile and innocent, powerful and magnificent. Each one has a personality, character, and a remarkable spirit. I see them as individuals and some are named.
Birds are often admired for their fabulous colors. But does one pelican really look just like another? They don’t! Every single bird is unique. I am fortunate to work up close with these creatures. By photographing them up close one is drawn to appreciating their individual personalities. In this way, the viewer can see the strange shapes of the beak, the play of light on the detailed feathers, the intense look in a sharp eye, and the proud stature of these delicate winged creatures we love.
