I have always dreamed of living in the tropics and painting like Gauguin. Since 1980, I have been living that dream on the island of st. Croix in the U. S. Virgin Islands. The colors, the light, the people and architecture are a constant inspiration for me and the relaxed lifestyle and charm lend themselves to my creativity. I have painted mostly in watercolor as I find the medium fresh and light for this genre.
Over the years I have also traveled to many countries and have painted from my photographs. Africa was breathtaking with its people and animals like nowhere else; Yugoslavia was charming with its old tile roofs and fields of poppies; Greece was bright with its stark white walls, blue sea and fishing boats; Panama was fascinating with its Cuna Indians; and London was always colorful and active with its markets and river boats.
